Puddles and trans temp light

Months ago I could drive through puddles/flooded streets no problem.
Now we are having lots of rain and when I get a good splash, the trans temp sensor light comes on and shifts out of overdrive for a few seconds, and now driving in our flooded streets it is intermittent for minutes. Where is it getting wet and what do I do about it?

New grille, headlights and painted mirrors and door handles. Had new tires put on yesterday Couldn’t be happier with the way it’s turned out. Love these 2nd gens!

Reflector Tape

I have a few trailers. Over the years I'll clean one up, repaint, re deck, brakes, and so on.

I've bought cheap reflector tape. Iv'e bought expensive reflector tape. Does not seem to matter, they all fade and look crap after 18 to 30 months of being in the sun.

What brand of tape have you found to be good and long lasting?

I have a 2005 5.9l with around 140k miles on it. Recently I’ve been having an issue and I’ve run out of ideas for a possible solution. It starts up and runs fine for about 30 mins, then the check engine light comes on for about 1 minute and then it shuts off while the key is still on. I just have to put it in park and Stuart it back up (it starts right back up and runs fine).

Recently replaced: all injectors replaced around 100k, drive belt, air filter, water pump, soon going to have fuel filter looked at.

If anyone has any ideas or has had this happen to them let me know, it’s been really annoying lately.

I’ve got a 98 24v and i had my tranfercase go out last week. I replaced it with a new one and on my way home from work the shift handle for the transfer case slid from 2wd to neutral and did some grinding on the way, this only happenes when accelerating in 5th gear. It’s a nv4500 trans any help is much appreciated

Backseat

#1 this truck has a much rougher ride than my 2007.5 quadcab and a different backseat that rattles super loud when you hit a bump. They didn't put an kind of strap to hold it down like the 07 had has anyone noticed this kind of irritating when you spend $70,000 plus for a truck.:frown2:

Rods for compound setup, when are they needed?

The title says it, when are rods needed in a compound setup? I've done a lot of searching and haven't found anything really that answers this, if I missed it let me know where, I found one or two references but nothing specific for my model year and the other was a few years old and I know EFILive has come a long way since then. Is there a certain HP/TQ level that necessitates rods? I'm planning building out my truck now that I have it paid off and have extra cash and know I want a compound setup but am not yet at the point of wanting to pull the engine for rods with the budget I'm looking at, $15-20K. Is there a compound setup I could safely run on the stock bottom end and through tuning keep it at a safe level and latter once the bottom end is built turn up the power?

6 bolt steering gear box upgrade worth it?

Hey guys, it's about time for me to replace my steering gear box....again. I'm planing on going with either a Redhead or Borgeson. The big question is whether the newer style 6 bolt gear boxes are worth the small fortune it costs to get one?

Anyone know if the 6 bolt boxes are tighter on center than the 4 bolt boxes? Are they geared differently or the same? Right now, my steering is just a little too sloppy on center to pull my 5er safely.

I'm only planning on doing this once for a while and I'd like a little feed back as to whether it's worth the extra $$...or is it just sold as the new "HD" but in reality is suffers from the same issues and I'll be replacing this one as well?

I’m needing some nerf bars on my truck for the kids especially. My truck is 2011 mega cab cherry red and can’t decide between chrome or black. I’m going with 5” raptor steps since they attach to the body mounts not the Rockers like many.

I just bought a insight cts2 scanner and between my anolog boost gauge and the scanner it is off 6 pounds. Would replacing the map sensor help?

My bf parked his truck in a paid lot (offsite parking for DIA) at the Quality Inn on Ouray - he returned to discover it was stolen sometime between the night of 9/14 and the early morning of 10/3. Blue with silver trim - NJ tags Y41-JTR - several decals on the back window but two are those souvenir stickers people get - one is OBX and another is GSM. It was not towed according to the Aurora Police - if seen please call them at 303-627-3100 - ANY HELP IS AMAZING!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Repair 5.9l engine using sleeve.

2007 Dodge RAM 3500.
The 5.9l (ISB 325) is an integral bore block and dont have sleeve.
I am going to repair mine. Failures in the turbo caused severe damage to the engine.
I have read in some forums that can be repaired using sleeves, even recommending use the sleeve Cummins P / N 3904166 along with a standard kit.
What is your recommendation to make this repair.
Which “engine rebuild kit” do you recommend and where to buy it?
Do you recommend changing the oil pump?

any other recommendations is welcome.

Gearing advice 3.73 to 4.10's

I recently jumped from 325 to 37's on my 2006 mega cab. Trying to decide if i want to re-gear to 4.10 gears or not. I have an ATS trans with co pilot and seems like my egt's went up while towing especially on grades. Truck looks awesome with the 37s and with the trans locking up around 50mph it gets hot quick in all instances. And i'm lucky to live on the coast and don't have to deal with hills other than large bridges. I do have 25% over injectors, a smarty, and pretty sure i'm in need of a turbo for some more air. With all that aside, have many of you guys re-geared to offset with 37s or larger tires? What did you go to? Doesn't seem like there are many other options other than 4.10s or 4.56s. I almost considered trying to swap axles with someone who had 4.10s and wanted 3.73s to benefit us both. more of a pain in the you know what than its worth maybe? Has anyone done it? hoping some guys on here have been there, done that and have some advice. Thanks in advance

Hi ya'll first time on the forum. Reason I joined the forum is cause I've got a buddy that is more computer dumb then me so I figured I'd join to see if any of you experts could help him out.

He's recently bought a 2011 2500 ram with the 6.7 Cummins, the pervious owner did a delete with a mini maxx tuner. The truck ran great for a couple months, then it started dying while driving like he shut the key off, he replaced the key module(the ignition switch) & had it programmed at the dealer. Still same problem.

Then it got to the point that when it would die it wouldn't start back up for some time so he took it to another dealer they replaced the abs module saying that the ecm thought the truck didn't have brakes so it was shutting it down, yep you guessed it still having the same issue still.

We've unhooked the tuner, did the tipm fuel pump bypass & still the same, so if anyone of you Cummins experts can help us out it would be greatly appreciated cause neither of us know anything about a diesel. Thanks in advance for any & all help.

While driving @ any speed the truck will lose power like I have no pedal then eventually it will speed back up. It does this quite often and is seems to be getting worse. It has 35k on it. Any ideas would help 100% stock. Do not have time to take to dealership as truck is my way of making money and can not be with out the truck @ this time.

Boost leak issue

Hi guys. It’s been a while since I’ve been on the forum, and I’ve upgraded. 2007.5 6.7 6speed.
It’s got all the goodies and go fast parts on it and I’m actually having a very troubling issue that I can’t wrap my head around.

So I’ve got a boost pressure leak.
When I purchased the truck, both the boost and exhaust pressure gauges stayed 1:1 to full throttle, redline. Which was around 58psi, I am able to peg the gauge though.

Now. My boost pressure will not build passed 44psi and my exhaust pressure will continue to build pressure as I accelerate until it pegs the gauge and then some, toward the end of the rpm range. Which is 2700, while the boost maintains a steady 44psi.

I have done an intercooler pressure test. From the boot right after the turbo to the boot before the intake manifold.
Pressurized it to 40psi and it held for 2-3 minutes. At the end of the test I lost 3-4psi.

Is that something worth digging into? I Could not hear any leaks. So I’ve dismissed that as being the culprit. If I am wrong, please correct me.

That leaves the turbo and manifold.
I checked to see if the bolts on the manifold were tight and they were able to be tightened more. And I tightened them to German “good’n’tight” specs. Still the same issue.
The air filter is about a year old. And the turbo has no play but some resistance on a cold “spin” test. I will check when the motor is hot and fresh oil is lubricating the turbo. The turbo is a double batmowheel s366 That has maybe 50,000 miles on it.
Intake horn is custom, which leads me to believe there may be a crack that I am not seeing in the welds...

So before I go digging, I’m asking for the forums help. Thanks.
