6 Months ago, i sold my 2007.5 Cummins, Tow tune, deleted etc. Found a clean almost bone stock 2014 Laramie and pulled the trigger. I had always wanted a megacab, and finally i got one. At first the plan was to build slowly, maybe some 20x12's on 35's and eventually deleting it. And then i got the call, want to build for SEMA?
I run a film business on the side here in South Texas, and a project manager decided i was what he wanted to cover SEMA this year for him. We talked numbers and decided that he would help me build my truck in exchange for my filming. It took off from there.
At first I was really considering my options, budget, what route i would go, etc. I'm active duty Navy so i thought what if we did a patina/weathered metal wrap? Sent the idea to skepple and what they created is what you see today.
The build process has been insane, At first i started on the lift. At 20 going into this with only the basic concepts of mechanics i was in for a disaster from the beginning, The Mcgaughy's 8" lift ive got to say is one of the most badass budget setups ive seen. Installation wasnt too hard, but we definitely ran into some curve balls, number one anything over a 6" Lift almost always requires the Transfer Case to be Re-clocked, i didnt know that until i had almost the entire lift together. Once we got everything installed the truck went to CDP in NB TX to get checked and the T-case Reclocked. They checked it over, fixed a couple things, and sent us on our way.
After the lift we moved to the EZ Lynk w/ PPEI Tuning. The difference it made was night and day. We deleted the truck with some "Custom" 4" Piping into the Banks Catback 4" exhaust. Night and day difference for sure.
Then Line X did the bed liner, installed some swing cases, and then i prepped the truck for wrap. Had to rempve all the badges, door handles (Not fun), mirrors, bumpers, grille, Lights, trim. Vantage Vinyl did the Install and they did a good job, i cant complain if i did it there wouldnt be anything left of the truck
This leaves us to where were at now. Ill continue to update this thread with progress.
