Replacement fender flare "rivets"

$

Hey Gang!

Silly question as you would think I could find these all over the internet but, it does not appear so. My "new to me" truck came with pocket style fender flares with fake rivets. I do not know the brand, but will take one off tonight to try and determine the maker. I have lost one so now's a good time replace it or change color for all maybe. I have "googled" but no luck.

Has anyone had to replace these and know what the hell they are called or who carries them. A vendor called www.pcbolts.com carries some I could use if I can get them short enough. I would epoxy them in and don't want then rubbing my fender under the flare.

Any names, vendors or ideas? Not much posting traffic on here under what i used for search terms.

As always...TIA

fuel gauge

I've head from a lot of people to run your fuel gauge down to the warning light. Because it could wear a spot in the gauge and either stick or show more fuel than is actually in the tank, if you only run it to a 1/4 tank then fill it up every time. What is everyones thoughts on this?

I just bought the truck and when I got home and looked in the bed, it looked like something was missing. I thought there should be a tie-down on the bed was st the rear.
I watched a video tour of another truck and it was the same. Just a hole. What is it for?

Valve Adjustment Value ?

On a 5.9, is there such a thing as a preferred or target/recommended valve adjustment setting? I know acceptable adjustment ranges exist for intake and exhaust. Just wondering if a "sweet spot" existed, e.g. lash set within the center of the adjustment range?

Proper way to level

Ok guys just got a new 2018 2500 and wanted to do a leveling kit. I want to do it right no spacers. What parts and kits do you suggest I see the carli seems ok but they talk about axle shiftment and spring binding. What do you guys prefer. I'm coming from a lowered ram 1500 and alignment and geometry was a b. But I'm willing to install the proper parts tonget it right. Just looking for a clean setup that will last but maybe a full lift kit is better not to sure. Any input is appreciated thanks.

Has anyone installed a gun rack made by Big Sky Rack (BSR-1) - the one gun version - on the headliner in the back of their Quad Cab? I'm trying to determine if the cab is double walled in that area of the headliner?

Hello Everyone,

My 08 6.7 that I just deleted for economy with EFI live "tow" tune. I noticed alot of blue smoke from the new 4" exhaust when cold. It goes away after about 4 minutes.
I first thought engine ware but now thinking Turbo oil seal leaking? If the turbo seal is leaking is that a big job to replace ? $$ ?
Thanks for feedback.

G56 to 48RE swap and vice versa

Alright guys after lurking on these for years I decided it was finally time to join. I have a 2007 5.9 Megacab Laramie with the 48re trans. Has about 165k miles. I’ve been looking since I bought it to swap it to a G56 and started looking harder after I had to rebuild my 48. I finally found a guy who wants to swap. Even better that his was recently rebuilt and comes with a south bend dual disk. My buddy has a fairly well set up shop and the guy said it we could swap them he would it as a straight trade. His truck is an 07 but it’s a 6.7. I know all the hard parts will fit but what sort of tuning issues are we going to run into. Anyone who has done this would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Truck Temp Gauge Reading Hotter Than Normal

$

Hi All,

I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer too. Recently the factory temp gauge on my truck started ready approximately 10* hotter than normal. It is a Canadian truck so I believe the gauge is reading Celsius not Fahrenheit. Center line on the gauge is 90*C (195*F) with the factory designated "safe zone" spanning from 80*C (175*F) to 100*C (210*F). The gauge starts reading at 70*C (155*F) and maxes out at 110*C (230*F).

Anyways, the truck has always read on what I call the "cold side of the safe zone", warming up to centerline (90*C) and cooling off to a needle width inside the cold side of the "safe zone" when the thermostat opens (about 82*C). The gauge was always fairly active, moving back and forth as the thermostat opened and closed. While pulling on hot days up long steep grades, I could see temps closer to the hot side of the safe zone (97*C roughly). Nothing ever over 100*C.

Now, the gauge has started running to 97*C before the thermostat opens, but even when the stat opens, it cools down about 8*C still which bring it to 89*C before heating back up. The cycling is consistent with how things worked before, just everything is reading 8*C hotter for some reason.

I have changed the thermostat and water pump (with Cummins genuine parts) and checked for leaks/coolant levels etc. I am starting to think this is not a mechanical issue, and that the truck is running the same temps as before, but I can't seem to figure out why the gauge would all of a sudden start reading hotter. Should I be looking into the temp sensor itself? or is it possible the needle slipped on the gauge in the dash or something?

Has anyone else had a similar issue? It is driving me nuts as I hate when things are not running/working "right" as I rely on my gauges to keep my motor safe.

Will be installing my crazy carl stock/s475 this weekend. Im going to port the internal wastegate on the he351 out to 1". I bought a second boost gauge so i can run one in the cold pipe and one in intake horn.

I dont have a drive pressure setup installed yet. What is the base boost number for the 351 to try to hit 1:1? 32...34psi?

MY EFI live tuner said he could control my wastegate with his tune that I wouldnt need to install a spring gate. However a spring gate came in my compound kit.

There was a thread on here where it showed someone's install of crazy carl's spring gate and I cant seem to find it....?

Thanks

No low end power

I just bought a 92 d250 and it has almost no acceleration to it, I mean the ole girl is a damn dog! I opened the injection pump and saw the factory fuel pin was already flipped around so I spun the knurled nut clockwise 1 full turn and reassembled. The result was negligible. To attempt to rule out the turbo, I disconnected the boot from the intake elbow and fired it up. It idles and throttles up & down (I did not drive it this way) with no noticeable change with or without the boot. The truck has been sitting for years now and I put a brand new fuel filled with seafoam on it and a bottle of howe’s in the fuel tank. Is it possible it’s just from sitting so long or am in for a bigger ticket?

98 12v turn off issue and loss of power

So I had a bad intake leak and fix it. Run in tits for a week and then I found a exhaust manifold leak very small. But after a week after doing my intake manifold gasket. It’s turning off way tougher than a normal shake. I also noticed loss of power getting onto freeway. And when I spool up and get going when I give it full throttle I feel like I’m not moving as much as I do with 1/2 or 3/4 throttle. Would the exhaust leak cause all this? Almost seems like my clutch is slipping. But the clutch only has 10k on it and it’s stage 2

Recommended oil?

Manual says the recommended oil is 0w-40W Penzoil Ultra Platinum for my 18 2500 6.4 Hemi. I realize recommended is not the same as required so do any of you with the 6.4 use another brand that meets the API SN specs?

03-04 and 04.5-07 turbo difference

Is the physical size different between the years? I know the 04.5-07 have a solenoid that regulates boost pressure that the early ones don't.
Reason for asking is i bought a 06 with the trans burnt up and it was missing the down pipe. While pulling the trans i saw the solenoid hanging down, plugged in but not attached to the turbo. It looks like a new turbo so i am guessing it was swapped for the early design.
Run this one or get a correct turbo.
If it's ok to run this one is all i need is the 03-04 downpipe?

1995 3500 auto. My OD, AC, tach, and Cruise are behaving intermittently. They work on first start and sometime later starts, but not usually when warmed up. I changed the common relay, but same issue. The truck even down shifted on interstate the other day as problem happened while driving. Before I remove the relay box to check wires is there any other place I should look? Incidentally, I had the same problem as another post where my brake light on dash stayed on, according to my mechanic this was because the previous owner had disconnected the ABS. When it downshifted on the interstate the brake light blinked on as it happened. Any ideas? This truck has been pretty much trouble free for the 16 years I have owned it.

2018 vs 2019 2500? Help!

I am in a Delima. I can’t decide if I want to order an 18’ or wait until January for the 2019’s. Are the 19’s for sure going to have the updated interior? Also when configuring online all it lets me choose 3.42 gears. Anybody know why?

Thanks!
