Hello, I am a new member of this Forum so if I am screwing up or in the wrong place let me know. I am retired and previously owned an 06 Duramax. Great truck but I always wanted a Cummins and now I have one. Just bought it this past Saturday. It is a 9 out of 10 inside and out. Drove it less than 250 miles and it left me on the side of the road. Engine stopped while accelerating in third gear. After pulling over I let it sit for a minute and it cranked but would only idle. Shuddered and shook when you increased the RPM's. Got it back to the house but am at a loss as what to do. Engine light is on and I can't afford a scanner to read the codes. My next step is to buy a cheap volt meter to check the APPS. If it is anything worse then it will have to sit until I can afford to fix it. What a bummer. I am disabled so this will not be an easy task for me to do. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. At least I can set a path of importance and begin to plan for repairs. Prior to the breakdown I was in heaven while driving this beast, what a great ride. I don't think that the previous owner was pulling one on me since it drove perfect until it stopped. Good to be on board, I expect to learn a lot from all of you.
