Gauge install screw up! Woops!

So finally got myself to put some gauges in the truck, went with boost, egt, and rail pressure phantom gauges from Autometer. Was very happy with the quality of the parts and got all the other odds and ends from Genos garage. Before I even went out to the truck I spent a lot of time pre wiring the gauge pod so it would be as simple of an install as possible. Here's what the pod looked like before install...

So got to wiring everything up in the truck. Rail pressure and boost were no big deal as I just tapped into the existing wires and used a boost bolt. I was pretty uneasy about drilling and tapping the manifold for fear of sending shavings into the turbo but had a buddy there with a shop vac right by my bit and magnet ing the chips out every so often. Holes went in no problem....

Then tapping, went slow and steady and things were going well and I just couldn't help myself and proclaimed "this is going about as good as it could go"....then another twist or two of the tap handle later and SNAP! Tap broke in manifold!

A few colorful words were shouted and we set about getting the broken part of the tap out. After several failed attempts we finally were able to grind down a set of needle nose pliers to grab the flutes in between the cutting portions of the tap and slowly spin it out. We cleaned the heck out of the hole with a combination of shop vac and magnet to ensure all the chips and potential pieces of broken tap were removed and carried on. Luckily I had tapped deep enough that the fitting for the probe went right in and was the perfect depth!

Needless to say it was a tense afternoon project lol. Ended up looking really nice at the end at was very happy the broken tap didn't turn into more of a catastrophe as it could have easily made this arch bigger project

Just thought I'd share my screw up with everyone!!
