Trying to talk my wife into letting me get a 2012 CCSB 2500 or 3500 (3500 preferably just for the number, lol!), with all the incentives the dealers are giving, it's making new look like a better idea than used!
So, my question is, stick or auto? I can drive a stick, my wife can't so, auto would be a selling point to her. Since it'll stay dead stock, the extra power of the HO with the auto sounds nice too. BUT, all I've ever heard about Rams has always been that the autos are weak transmissions. (Dodge stuff is new to me, I am a GM convert, had a DMAX/Alli truck up until a little over a year ago when I traded it on a JK, I miss having a diesel pickup now so...)
It's still in the contemplation stage as I had original just planned to pay cash for an older truck BUT, payments may be worth it to get a new truck that doesn't have any unknown wear and her on it. (was originally looking in the $20k range)
So, 2012 automatic trans? Good enough to contemplate?
(bear in mind, it will stay stock until 100k as that's about what mileage it'll hit by the time I pay it off, LOL! So, no option of well.... if you get such and such company's heavy duty modified trans.... not an option for quite some time!)
Little notes about usage:
mostly around town driving (wife's Yukon XL will be long trip mobile)
12k or so is absolute max I think it will ever tow in my possession (9k was the max I ever towed with my DMAX in 4 years of owning it, ironically I towed a Cummins rig, LOL!)
Heavy right foot! (I miss the acceleration of a diesel!)
will push the GVWR on occasion hauling random crap in the bed (pavers, truck parts, whatever)
Wish I woulda just bought a Cummins back in 07 like I had contemplated, DOH!!!
Thanks in advance for info!
