Turbo going?

I noticed today I cannot hear my turbo whistle. Usually from inside the truck I can hear it loud and clear, but today could not hear a thing. I did notice a kind of clunk noise on the passenger side when I accelerated. I just got the "perform service" reminder for the ccv yesterday, and I was also hitting some pretty big snow banks yesterday so everything is iced up.. It still seems to be making reasonable boost, but I never ran it hard. Is not being able to hear the whistle a sign of the turbo going out? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question.
