So I am seeing the tranny temps rise when at idle and lower when locked up and at speed. From what I read on this site (awesome!!) it sounds like the transmission cooler thermostat was stuck in the bypass position.
I removed the thermostat and cleaned it. It wasn't terribly dirty. I have to note that when I removed it, it went flying across the driveway when the plug finally came free. I found all the parts - the spring, the copper tstat, the stainless pin, and the plug. That's all the parts right?
Anyway, after reassembling the thermostat, I am still seeing the same symptoms.
What else could be causing this issue? Or did I not clean the tstat good enough? Could the cooler itself be blocked with debris? How do you clean that?
