Hey guys i'm new to the site, i'm still learning and i could use some help. My trucks not holding voltage. Check engine lights on and gauge reading about 12 volts when batteries are fully charged, the batteries last about an hour before they die and shorter when lights are on. Things i've done/tried: alternator bench tested good, batteries tested good, cleaned battery and alternator connections, cleaned ground wires (pretty sure i found them all), checked fuses and relays underhood all good. The problem went away for a little after putting the alt back on after testing and cleaning the battery connections the first time. By counting the check engine flashes i pulled the codes
code 24: TPS volt to high or low...a problem i'm aware of, even though i did replace the tps and it didnt fix the tranny shifting. better but not fixed. i use a convert lock switch to shift into third for now, which i'm guessing it threw a code 37: Open or short in the Torque converter clutch solenoid CKT circuit or Voltage high or low at transmission Temperature sensor.
code 41: An open or shorted condition detected in the alternator field control circuit.
code 41 is where i think my problem is, and i'm sorry if this is a dumb question but i'm not quite sure what exactly this is, where it is and how to check/fix it?
Any info on this problem would be much apreciated, hope i provided enough info, thanks
Oh and oddly when i changed my thermostat the problem went away for about 20 min of run time then symptoms were back, check eng light came on, voltage dropped back to bout 12 and it caused the temp to drop too (according to the gauge). dont know why it would mess with the temp.
