When to upgrade fuel pump?

Is there a good time or certain power upgrades to determine when a aftermarket fuel pump is needed?

I have very few upgrade including a Smarty Jr.and will not be adding more until I get a built tranny.Do I need to purchase a Air Dog, FASS, Raptor, ect. with my current setup?

Do the stock pumps go out often?
