I just converted my 03 dodge 2500 qc 2wd to a dually. I bought a rear axle from a guy on CL. Drove it home tonite and the rear end is howling under load. The diff fluid had some water in it from the vent being left off, but not too bad. The stores were closed to buy any oil so I drove it home 70 miles from my buddies house with my empty gooseneck in tow. The rear whined as soon as I left but didn't get any worse the whole way. It's only under load. When I get out of the gas it stops. Will changing the oil help? What would cause the noise? can I do anything to make it stop? Short of replacing gears?
