My truck has been putting out white smoke primarily from the front passenger side fender well when i idle at stop lights on and off for a while now. I have taken it to 2 dealerships, although the second one was trying to troubleshoot off of what i "thought" it was based on recent work i had done (other dealer just replaced the clutch, DMF, throw out bearing, and rear seal). It is very frustrating as it continues to do it. it looks like burning leaves coming out primarily the passenger side fender well but not exclusively as when it really gets going it comes out everywhere. I am going to take it to the dealer tomorrow and tell them i dont want it back until it is fixed. I would prefer to take it to the second dealer, but i am worried if the first one screwed it up, only they would be able to fix it with out additional cost.
It is very frustrating as i have basically had it in the shop 4 times in the past 3 weeks and keep getting told there is nothing wrong with it. there is a burning smell that accompanies it, but i cant identify it. It is either electrical or maybe insulation. I thought it may have been the hood liner, but the volume of smoke is a lot higher than the burn marks i see on the head liner (1 small one on the passenger side of the valve cover). any help would be great.
