My wife and I just bought a new 2012 BLACK 3500 Crew Cab DRW HO/Auto Tow Pac Laramie Longhorn Limited. All my trucks have been purchased used. This is the first truck I have ever owned new. I owned a 97 ford 150 4.6 Triton that lasted 280,000 and is still running. I contribute the longevety of my last truck to frequent oil changes (3000mi.) and the use of Mobil one synthetic. This is my first diesel truck, I do own a JD 410C Backhoe that I just rebuilt the engine on (new Rods,Mains,piston/sleeve kit,new turbo. I did all the work except had the Head checked somewhere else.
We purchased the truck because we are planning to get a 5th wheel Rv
(40' maybe 16,000 trailer weight) we also want to move our backhoe from job to job.
My question is about the warranty. I have been reading lots of posts about deletes and so forth. I know there are many opinions about this and that as far as thing to do to make a truck last and it can be very ovw
erwhelming as to how far to go and what I can do.
Since my last truck is still going strong at 280k,and attributing that to regular oil changes (and the possibility that synthetic might have had something to do with it) I would like to hear some advise on what I should do.
This is what my thoughts were. Of course I want my truck to last forever like everyone else, But, I would like to upgrade the lubrication of the engine, I was thinking about an Amsoil remote bypass filter to start with. My question is about doing anything to this truck, What will and what won't affect my warranty? We also Purchased the extended warranty 6yrs./100,000.
Even though there are things to do to an engine to get longer life, how do dealers look at changing (SOME) things. What about changing to a Console Shifter, will the dealer frown on this and try to use it against me later if I have any major warranty claims?

Thanks
