I'm leaving this Saturday to Missouri to pick up an '06 2500 CrewCab 4x4 from my father-in-law and bring it back to Cali. This will be my first diesel truck, so I'm trying to figure out the new smog laws and what I need to do to pass.
I need to get it registered in CA and get a base sticker for it as well.
The mods I know he has done to it are:
Removed cat
Smarty programmer
Something with the EGR system
He still has the factory cat, and I will be bringing it back to have installed to pass the visual test, so I should be good there.
Will I have to return the truck to the stock tune or can I keep the tune on the truck and still pass the OBD test?
Anyone out the with any recent experience with smog checks on a 5.9?
FWIW, I got a "guy"... but not sure if I want to go down that road unless I absolutely have too.
