Hello ya'll

I registered to this site several months ago but I have not bothered to post my very first thread. My apology.

I'm hard of hearing/hearing impaired but I wear two hearing aids to be able to hear everything. I was originally born and raise in Baytown, TX and just moved to Austin, TX in about 3 and half years ago. I own a shop called Silent Automotive, in business partnership with Danny. I've learned a lot about servicing automotive since I was 7 years old, my grandfather used to run an automotive business from 1968 to 2002. He is my role model and taught me a lot. I won't called myself an expert in mechanic because I'm still learning everyday but I'm honestly good at it, pretty sure this goes for everyone.

Diesel trucks were my dream of owning one and my grandfather offered me a 1981 GMC 1500 pick up truck with a 6.2L diesel, I didn't want it while I was a freshmen in high school because of how old it looks and I wanted a fast car in the past... I should have kick myself in the :buttkick:

April 2011 was the month that I finally traded my 2006 Scion tC for a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. I was surprised that I got this truck for $5000 in trade for my $6250 car  The guy gave me a list of problem the truck have which is the reason why the price was lower. I looked everything that was listed and I don't see anything wrong with it but a turbo seal broke on the exhaust side. The whole exhaust got a lot of oil and smoking bad. This truck was from a company truck so I figured one of the employee would have abuse it so badly. I decided to take it to my shop on a 40 feet trailer from my business partner on his 97 ford f250 7.3 powerstroke and fix this baby up with a brand new turbo but cost me $1450 for an OEM from Majestic Turbo! I needed it anyways so after that, cleaned the intercooler and changed all the fluid to new. Started the truck and I was happy to use it everyday.

The truck is my daily driver until this time, I noticed a white smoke puffing through the vent tube with some spot of oil and I wasn't happy about it... It runs real smooth and got a lot of power but the puffing made me nervous. It looks like two or three cylinder have bad piston rings. I change my oil every 5000 miles and fuel filter every 10,000 miles with premium shell 15w40 and fleetguard oil and fuel filter. I had to put one gallon of oil at 4000 miles. I decided to stop driving it because I don't want my pocket to go deeper.

I would like to start a new thread about rebuilding my engine at a budget price, even tho everything is fine except my rings or it might be more to it. Also would like to know your experience, advice, and opinion as well. I'm about to pull my engine out soon.

I studied about diesel engine for 3 years so far and I wanted to be a diesel specialist for my shop but I don't have enough hands on, on these trucks. My truck will be my first experience to rebuild a diesel engine, although I have done other rebuild on a gasser.

again, my apology for a long story about myself.

EDIT: I only put 20,000 miles on my truck, it was 235,000 when I got it and now 255,000.
