Minor smoke help

I have just done a cummins swap into my 01 F-250. I believe it is a 90 6bt. I not sure what the engine came out of or the milage. The cummins had the aftercooler (i think that is what it is called) but i eliminated that and went with a intercooler. I did have the ve pump retimed back to zero so i knew it was right. At this time the the pump is advanced by maybe an 1/8 of an inch or so. I'm running an airdog fuel pump and put a hx-35 turbo on it. All new gaskets and everything inside seemed within specs. Nothing modified on the injection pump to my knowledge. Seems to run great. I did have to replace the head because i had the 9mm injectors and of course cracks in the head. The head i put on it had the 7mm injectors. The injectors were not stock and i believe i was told they are 70hp or 80hp over stock but not new.
I have noticed what appears to be white smoke at idle while in gear and acceleration. My concern is if something is not right that i could cause further damage. I am new to diesel because i know gas but i am learning about diesel quickly.
Not sure where i need to start first. Not sure if injectors, timing, fuel issues, or something else is a good place to start. I did just find out at idle while listening to the truck i heard something that didn't sound right. I tracked it down to my air filter. I am thinking i need to change it because it may be restricting air flow. Could that cause white smoke. I know this may be a lot but i wanted to give what i know. I hope it is enough for a little advice.
Thank you
