I just bought an '07 5.9l with the G56. There is a squeak/honk sound when engaging and disengaging the clutch during the friction point. I have searched and searched but I haven't come up with my symptoms.
- It doesn't make any noise when I'm shifting at low rpm's or shortshifting it.
- The noise is loudest during the 3-4 and 4-5 shifts when the rpms are higher.
I bought it from a dealer who didn't know jack about it's history of course. So I don't know if the previous owner could have installed an aftermarket clutch, I'm not sure what those sounds like. The truck only has 40k miles on it and is pretty much stock.
When I operate the pedal by hand with the engine off there is a little creek in the master cylinder, not sure if that's normal. I tried greasing the shaft, that had no effect. I checked for leaks on the master and slave, seems all good. The fluid is pretty brown though.
Any ideas?
